Cornwall, ON – Beyond 21 is inviting the community to take part in one of its most popular and entertaining fundraising events, the Jail & Bail Fundraiser, returning on April 29, 2026.
Jail & Bail is a fun, lighthearted event where local community members are “arrested” on humorous, made-up charges and challenged to raise bail in support of a meaningful cause. Participants, known as “jailbirds,” are nominated by friends, family, or colleagues and must fundraise to secure their release.
Leading up to the event, each jailbird receives a personalized fundraising page and is encouraged to collect donations from their network. On event day, participants take part in a scheduled mock arrest, either in person within the City of Cornwall or virtually for those outside the area.
This year the goal is to raise $20,000 and all funds will directly support Beyond 21, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping adults with developmental disabilities build independence, develop life skills, and stay connected to their community.
Beyond 21 is currently seeking nominations from the public. Community members are encouraged to nominate someone who would be a good sport, whether it’s a boss, coworker, friend, or local personality willing to take part in this playful challenge.
