Like all of us, adults with developmental disabilities deserve to live a connected and respected life filled with opportunities to contribute to their community and achieve their dreams.
Emma was born with a rare chromosome disorder called mosaic trisomy 9. Despite a low survival rate, she has beaten the odds and continues to teach those around her every day how to live with joy and determination.
When Emma aged out of the traditional school system, her mom founded Beyond 21 with the goal of helping as many families as possible in the area find a safe space for adults who have developmental disabilities.
At Beyond 21, Emma has been able to explore her passion for cooking and making artwork and has benefited from socializing with her peers on a daily basis. Thanks to these activities at Beyond 21, Emma carries with her the confidence and experience to try new things and fully indulge in the community.
