Cornwall, Ontario – Earlier in 2024, Beyond 21 was awarded a $150,000 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), which has now allowed us to successfully complete a crucial roof replacement project. Thanks to this support, we no longer face the stress of potential leaks during the fall, winter, and spring seasons, ensuring the integrity of our building and the safety of our participants.
The project, completed by local contractor Grant-Marion Construction, has not only addressed urgent water damage concerns but also extended the lifespan of our facility by an estimated 25 years. This essential upgrade ensures that our growing program for adults with developmental disabilities can continue to thrive in a secure and welcoming environment.
“Our facility had been in dire need of a new roof, and we were deeply concerned about the impact that continued leaks could have on our programs and the safety of our participants,” said Tish Humphries, Founder and Board Chair of Beyond 21. “Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we can now move forward with confidence, knowing our building is protected and our participants are safe this winter.”
The completion of this project marks a significant milestone for Beyond 21, as we continue to expand our services to meet the needs of more families. Without the support of the OTF grant, we would not have been able to undertake this critical project without diverting funds away from our essential programs. Now, we can focus on reducing our waitlist and providing even more life-enriching opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
“We are thrilled to have this project behind us and are grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their belief in our mission,” added Humphries. “The safety and well-being of our participants are always our top priority, and this grant has made it possible for us to grow our program without compromising on either.”
Grant-Marion Construction played a pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition, expertly installing the new roof and heating cables to prevent future ice and snow buildup. Their meticulous work ensured that the project was completed on time, within budget, and without disruption to our ongoing program.
This successful collaboration between Beyond 21, OTF, and Grant-Marion Construction underscores the impact that strategic funding can have on community organizations. By supporting vital capital projects like ours, the Ontario Trillium Foundation is helping to ensure that organizations like Beyond 21 can continue to provide essential services that enhance the social and economic well-being of our communities.
