Background:

Beyond 21 is a support program for adults with developmental disabilities 21 years of age and older. We are a registered charity that provides services for families throughout SDG and Akwesasne.  Our vision is to enable adults with developmental disabilities to live connected, respected, and contributing to our community.  We accomplish this through providing hands on opportunities to practice life learning. In preparation for our move to our new location, Beyond 21 is looking to hire a full time general Facilitator.  

Position:

Guided by person centered thinking, the General Facilitator focuses on providing meaningful experiences for adults with a developmental disability. Activities focus on building peer and community relationships, and acquiring skills to achieve active inclusion and involvement in the community. This may include, but is not limited to; recreation, leisure, social, and communication skills.  All Facilitators at Beyond 21 focus on activities that are relevant to community and home life while assisting participants to gain experience and practice skills that build increased connections with peers and community. The result is participants living their lives with increased success, friendships, supports, and independence. 

Qualifications:

You should have a background in social services, mental health, education, or health care including a college diploma or university degree.  Qualifications and experience for this position include flexibility, problem solving, organizing, communication skills, and the ability to form relationships with diverse individuals.  Most important, you must have a heart for the community and the people that we serve, as well as the desire to help them achieve their dreams. The successful candidate will be required to have a current Police Check, current First Aid / CPR training, and to have a reliable smoke free vehicle.  NVCI training and Bilingualism are assets. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
