Home Skills Facilitator (permanent part time, 3 days per week)

If you answered yes to the above questions Beyond 21 is looking to hire a part time “Home Skills Facilitator.” Our Home Skills Facilitator will work hands on with adults with a developmental disability, 21 years of age and older, to help them learn practical skills they can apply in their home lives. You will be responsible to facilitate experiential hands on learning including; grocery planning, meal preparation and cooking, laundry, cleaning, as well as other home skills.
Beyond 21 is a support program for adults 21 years of age and older with developmental disabilities. Our vision is to enable adults with developmental disabilities to live connected, respected, and contributing to our community. We serve a broad range of individuals with developmental disabilities. As such the Home Skills Facilitator will work with individuals and small groups who have a variety of challenges. Creative problem solving, flexibility, quick thinking, positive attitude, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage people in learning are all skills that will help you succeed in this position.
Strong skills and a passion for cooking, nutrition, and food handling are the key requirements for this position. Food Handler Certification or willing to acquire this is also required. A background in social services, mental health, education, or health care including a college diploma or university degree and previous experience with developmentally disabled is an asset. Bilingual is an asset.
This is a permanent part time position, 8:30-3:30, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The successful candidate will be required to present us with a current Criminal Reference Check and First Aid / CPR certification at time of hire. The position also requires use of a reliable smoke free vehicle and you must have a valid class G driver’s license.
Beyond 21 staff must have a strong service ethic that projects a can-do attitude in communicating with participants, families, co-workers, supervisors, volunteers and community partners. Applicants should be motivated self-starters who demonstrate initiative, the ability to build trusting relationships, and are committed to the highest professional standards.
